Announcing Exploring Mindfulness, a blog series for starting, re-starting, or maintaining the practice of mindfulness.
Mindfulness can be described simply as seeing clearly in the here and now. I chose Pema Chödrön’s book When Things Fall Apart as our guide because, through this book, she is a calm and reassuring voice in helping us to accept life as it is. She is also a clear and articulate teacher with practical guidance for facing our fears, anger, and loneliness. I find her approach, which comes from the Tibetan Buddhism tradition, to be extremely relevant to psychology and therapy as we practice it today.
The first post will be 0n Sunday, May 3rd and a new post will appear every Sunday for 12 weeks.
You are encouraged to read When Things Fall Apart, and everyone is strongly encouraged to commit to a daily mindfulness meditation practice for 12 weeks. It is okay if it is only five minutes a day—establishing a habit is the key to developing mindful awareness in a way that will make a difference in one’s life. I will have companion posts on Facebook and discussion is welcome via comments & replies.

Where to find When Things Fall Apart: I recommend getting the book at Shambhala Publications using this link: https://www.shambhala.com/when-things-fall-apart-3628.html to break the Amazon habit and to support Shambhala’s mission to contribute “to the development of a thoughtful, kindhearted, and contemplative society.” They have book and audio options. If you desire a Kindle version or Audible, you will need to go to Amazon.
